There’s something about the fall season and Thanksgiving that brings people together. What would make this season even better? Harvest themed glassware! We’ve hand-picked a select number of water pipes, hand pipes, and accessories that will add style to your smoke shop and add value to your customer’s lives during this season for giving.
Let’s start off by going over the history between the Pilgrims and good ol’ Mary Jane. The Age of Sail started in 1571, this was a period where most trading, commerce, and exploration was done using sailing vessels. It was reported that hemp was used in rigging, cordage, and canvas for the ships and could have even been used to help keep the ships floating.
Fun Fact: The word “canvas” is actually derived from the Latin “cannabis”.
While there is no factual evidence to back it up, there is a theory that the Pilgrims brought over hemp seeds on the Mayflower to plant when they arrived. What we do have evidence for is that hemp made its way to Jamestown, VA in 1611 for fiber cultivation, and was transferred again in 1629 to New England.
We know that hemp has been cultivated all around the world for thousands and thousands of years for a wide range of uses and reasons. Historians have even identified pieces of hemp cloth from as early as 8000 BC. We also know that in the years leading up to the Civil War, hemp was a seriously important crop in the US, farmers could even have been punished for not growing hemp! Imagine a time where you could pay your property taxes using hemp?
So we are left with one question: Did the Pilgrims bring over hemp on the Mayflower or was the only trace of hemp on the Mayflower used for its ropes and oakrum? They did eat
A LOT of food on the first Thanksgiving… munchies anyone?
Now that the history lesson is over, let’s get to the good stuff, Thanksgiving themed pipes!
In honor of our Pilgrim relatives, our first featured piece is going to be a 10” Honey Striped Beaker Water Pipe
The beautifully hand-crafted colors and patterns of this pipe are easily comparable to a wicker basket used to carry corn and gourds to the dinner table at the first Thanksgiving in Plymouth. Complete with ice-pinchers to keep your drag cool and smooth, this 10 inch 13 ounce water pipe is all your customer is going to need this season. This borosilicate glass piece is completely compatible with accessories such as ash catchers and bangers!
The tribal print design on this 5” Wave Wrap Mini Rig Bubbler signifies the unity of the native tribes and the Pilgrims after their first months spent together!
This is a great piece for a size conscious customer who still wants the smooth cleanliness of a water pipe. Standing at only 5” high and weighing only 32 grams, the mini rig bubbler is easy to transport and pass around with friends and family during festive gatherings. Your customers are going to love the compatibility of this pipe and its heavy duty borosilicate glass. It even comes complete with a quartz nail and 10mm glass cover!
